Daily Market Commentary for April 7, 2009

Consumers cut borrowing during the month of February, feverishly shunning credit cards, per a report from the Federal Reserve today. (read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

Economic data released today:

ICSC-Goldman Store Sales:
U.S. Chain Store Sales fell 0.3% on the year; U.S. ICSC/Goldman Sachs Chain Store Sales rose 0.6% for week of April 4.

Redbook:
U.S. Retail Sales rose 0.4% for week ending April 4 versus a year ago; U.S. Retail Sales first 5 Weeks of March fell 0.8% versus March a year ago; U.S. Retail Sales first 5 Weeks of March fell 0.8% versus March a year ago; U.S. Retail Sales first 5 Weeks of March rose 0.5% versus February.

Consumer Credit:
U.S. February Consumer Credit decreased $7.5B; U.S. January Consumer Credit revised to Up $8.1B from Up $1.8B; U.S. Consumer Credit fell for the fourth time in six months.
