Daily Market Commentary for October 27, 2010

Federal Reserve

Stocks started the day off lower as concerns grow about what the Federal Reserve will decide at their meeting next week. (Read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

Economic data released today:

MBA Mortgage Applications:
U.S. MBA Market Index rose 3.2% at 828.9; Last Week 803.4; U.S. MBA Purchase Index rose 3.9% at 176.4; Last Week 169.7; U.S. MBA Refinance Index rose 3.0% at 4,626.1; Last Week 4,491.1.

Durable Goods Orders (MoM):
August Durable Goods Excluding Transportation Revised to rise 1.9% from an increase by 2.0%; August Durable Goods Orders Revised to fall 1.0% from a decrease by 1.5%; September Durable Goods Orders, Excluding Defense, rose 2.9%; September Durable Goods Orders, Excluding Transportation, fell 0.8%; U.S. September Durable Goods Orders rose 3.3%; Compared to Consensus of a decrease by 2.5%.

New Home Sales:
U.S. August New Home Sales Unrevised at 288K; U.S. September New Home Sales rose 6.6% to 307K; Compared to Consensus of 300K.

Crude Oil Inventories as reported by Department of Energy:
U.S. Refineries Ran at 83.7% capacity versus 82.5% capacity a Week Ago; U.S. Refineries Ran at 83.7% capacity; was Seen at 83.00% capacity; U.S. Distillate Stockpiles fell 1.613 Million Barrels in Week; was Seen decreasing by 1 Million Barrels; U.S. Gasoline Stockpiles fell 4.387 Million Barrels in Week; was Seen decreasing by 0.2 Million Barrels; U.S. Gasoline Stockpiles fell 4.387 Million Barrels at 214.942 Million Barrels; U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles rose 5.007 Million Barrels in Week; was Seen increasing by 0.7 Million Barrels; U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles rose 5.007 Million Barrels at 366.206 Million Barrels.
