Pharmaceutical Mergers
 
Stocks were rallying today after news broke of new pharmaceutical mergers and better than expected earnings. (Read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

Economic data released today:

MBA Mortgage Applications:
U.S. MBA Market Index fell 9.5% at 420.4; Last Week 464.7; U.S. MBA Purchase Index fell 5.9% at 175.1; Last Week 186.1; U.S. MBA Refinance Index fell 11.4% at 1,848.6; Last Week 2,086.4.

PPI (MoM):
U.S. December PPI Revised to +0.9% from +1.1%; U.S. January Passenger Car Prices fell 0.1%; U.S. January PPI Energy Prices rose 1.8%; U.S. January PPI Crude Goods rose 3.3%; Core rose 4.0%; U.S. January PPI Intermediate Goods rose 1.1%; Core rose 1.0%; U.S. January Producer Prices rose 0.8%; Compared to Consensus of an increase by 0.9%; U.S. January PPI Ex-Food & Energy rose 0.5%; Compared to Consensus of an increase by 0.2%.

Housing Starts:
December Housing Starts Revised to -5.1% from -4.3%; U.S. January Housing Starts rose 14.6% to 596K; Compared to Consensus of an increase by 0.2%.

Building Permits:
Building Permits fell 10.4% to 562K Rate in January.

Capacity Utilization Rate:
U.S. January  Capacity Utilization fell 0.1 Point at 76.1%; Compared to Consensus of 76.3%; U.S. December Capacity Use Revised to 76.2% from 76.0%.

Industrial Production (MoM):
U.S. January Industrial Production fell 0.1%; Compared to Consensus of an increase by 0.5%; U.S. December Industrial Production Revised to +1.2% from +0.8%.

Crude Oil Inventories released by DOE:
U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles rose 0.86 Million Barrels at 345.917 Million Barrels; U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles rose 0.86 Million Barrels in Week; was Seen increasing by 1.7 Million Barrels; U.S. Gasoline Stockpiles rose 0.205 Million Barrels at 241.096 Million Barrels; U.S. Gasoline Stockpiles rose 0.205 Million Barrels in Week; was Seen increasing by 1.2 Million Barrels; U.S. Distillate Stockpiles fell 3.096 Million Barrels at 161.27 Million Barrels; U.S. Distillate Stockpiles fell 3.096 Million Barrels in Week; was Seen decreasing by 0.8 Million Barrels; U.S. Refineries Ran at 81.2% capacity versus 84.7% capacity Week Ago; U.S. Refineries Ran at 81.2% capacity; Seen 84.50% capacity.
